Mysore :

The Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore, honoured the prize winners in the All-India Inter-University sports competitions in a function held at Sports Pavilion on Mar. 25.

The sports persons were presented cash awards along with blazers. S.S. Roy, Regional Director, Sports Authority of India, Southern Centre, Bangalore, was the chief guest. Dr. C. Krishna, Director, University PE Department, was present.

The award winners are athletes Bebi Sumya, Reena George, Shraddha Rani Desai and Afsana, Coach- Damodar Gowda and Manager- T.R. Mahendra Kumar.

Bebi Sumya secured Rs.25,000 cash award (silver in 100m & Bronze in 4x400m relay), Reena George secured Rs.20,000 ( Bronze in 200m and 4x400m Relay), Apsana Begam got Rs.20,000 (Bronze in 400m Hurdles & 4x400m relay) while Shraddha Rani B. Desai secured Rs.10,000 (Bronze medal in 4x400m Relay). The Manager and the Coach received Rs.15,000 each.

Mr. Mysore University Title winner R. Ravikumar of GFGC, Siddartha layout, got a cash prize of Rs.5,000. The record holders in the University Inter-collegiate athletic meet 2012- Bebi Sumya (200m & 4x100m relay) got Rs.10,000, Reena George (4x100m relay and 400m) got Rs.10,000, Apsana Begum got Rs.10,000 ( 400m Hurdles & 4x100m relay), Ramyashree Rs.5000/- (4x100m Relay) and T.S. Ravi (Broad Jump) got Rs.5000.

The PG Sports Council secured Rs.10,000 for emerging as Team champions in Mysore University Cross Country events for men while Teresian College got Rs.10,000 for winning the Cross Country team championship in women’s section.

PGSC, Mysore also got Rs.15,000 for winning the Team championship title in the University Inter-collegiate athletic meet in the men’s section and Teresian got Rs.15,000 for winning the team championship title in the women’s section.
