Davanagere :

Mysuru lad and former State Champion, Y.G. Vijendra, taking part in the Wiz Kids State Rapid Chess Tournament in Davanagere won the title by securing 8 points from nine rounds on Sunday.

Vijendra and A. Balkishan of Bengaluru tied with 8 points each, but the former’s better tie-break score helped him to clinch the title.

Vijendra had registered wins over Vinay Kurthukoti, A.P. Harish, Akash, Ekantharaju, Neraj Pai and Saketh Kumar and A. Balkishan. He had draws against Kishan Gangulli and Shreshan.

Final Placings: 1. Y.G. Vijendra (8 pts); 2. A. Balkishan (8 pts); 3. Kishan Gangulli; 4. Aditya B. Kalyani; 5. Shreeshan; 6. Sushrutha Reddy; 7. Saketh Kumar; 8. Neeraj Pai; 9. V.P.S. Darshan; 10. Varun Yeri.
